Glycemic Index Cooking Made Easy
Even though the average weight of the population in the Western world continues to rise, this seems to have fueled the interest in health and fitness products. Perhaps this is in part to those health magazine covers with men and women who have desirable, health and fit looking bodies. This of course has had a knock on effect with more fitness clubs and health spas being built.
We are all be urged to become more responsible about our fitness generally so it is no surprise that there has been an increase in the amount of interest shown. The way we eat and the types of food we consume also play a major role in our overall health and fitness so the two should really be emphasized as a joint effort.
Our diet and our fitness are two halves of the same coin and need to be worked together as it is the food we consume that will determine how quickly we can repair cells and tired parts of our body. The two opposing views on this subject just confuse the issue with the high-carb and high-fat groups both saying their method is best.
Of course having this contradiction explained does help and it is all down to what sort of diet is best when you exercise. Those followers of eating foods with high carbohydrate content believe these are best owing to the amount of energy that can be stored in the muscles ready for instant release.
Whereas, fat is a rich source of calories with two and a half times more than proteins and carbohydrates whilst fat metabolizes in an eighth of the time it does for carbohydrates. So a person can follow a high-carb and low fat fitness diet or the other way around but it is not recommended to follow both at the same time; unless of course if you want to gain body fat.
But then diet fitness is not all about losing fat and you must also consider your diet in order to keep fat away. Studies show time and time again that to lose and keep the weight of, every diet must be tailored to individuals particular food tastes, their medical history and way they live their life.
Many diets can help you lose weight but to maintain it requires something that will make you feel good about yourself as well as making you feel healthy and that often means eating some of the things you like but in moderation. A person must be careful not to leave out important nutrients plus other substances necessary for healthy body functioning and health organizations are clear about the amounts of nutrients an individual should have in the body.
The answer to all this is arranging for a diet that suits your own personal needs as being healthy is more important that just looking good and if you want to continue with your diet fitness program it should be something you enjoy.
